Wayside Shines

Wayside
Shrines

There was a need for decor, for an adornment of the walls. But it had to have a certain weight, a value, a ritual and be one of a kind.

The strange imagery I had been making needed a home, an altar, a shrine. To become something that held a power, and seemed like something from the past, or an alternate way.

There is a resurgence of folk, the web of wyrd restrung. The shrines mark the fringes of that way of being, a question of paganism and lost lore of this land or another, and simply a form of interesting wall decor.

//

The series ‘Wayside Shrines’ renders dreamlike archetypes and narrative scenes housed within alters of hand carved oak.

Star Child, Hedgerow, Imp and The Fat Horse.

Each of these moments has a beginning, a subconscious influence from film, books, medieval illuminations and often daydreams.

They are adorned within uniquely carved oak alters, resulting in a relic like shrine for the beings to be worshiped, observed with contemplation. Acting like a portal, these wayside shrines offer a glimpse into a whimsical strain of thought, or possibly and alternate reality.

To be a remembrance of the way of wyrd at the end of the hallway.

Paintings

There were two large horse sculptures in the home decor isle, on the bottom shelf

Perhaps they were marble, or some imitation stone.

I could see them at the entrance.

Collage

There is so much you can say with a collage,
                                     And nothing at all.

                       An ambiguous suggestion,

           Or reflection....

perhaps.
